FREMONT, Ohio — All lanes of the Ohio Turnpike affected by Wednesday’s chain reaction crashes are now open.
Ohio Turnpike officials made the announcement late Friday, thanking the area for their patience and hard work throughout the week.

Just some of those who stepped up was a couple who live right near where the crashes occurred. The accidents covered more than a mile of the turnpike, killing three people and seriously injuring a state trooper.
When John and Sharon Ambrose saw the resulting back-ups, they sprang into action.
Their daughter, Micheyle Wright, said Sharon put together peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bottled water, pretzels and milk (in case there were babies in the cars).
John then walked to the turnpike, handing out the items to drivers.
“A lawyer even walked with him for a bit and kept him company,” she told Fox 8 News. “He was out there a good couple of hours.”
Areas of the turnpike gradually reopened through the week. All eastbound lanes were finally reopened near mile marker 102 Friday night.
