ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Suspects broke into not just vehicles — but homes overnight Friday at one point, taking keys and stealing one of the victim’s cars.
Rocky River are now warning residents to be mindful of securing their homes and property.
“The crime of entering homes at night while the residents are at home is a very brazen criminal activity,” Chief Kelly Stillman said in a release.
According to police, several vehicles were entered on Shoreland Avenue between Wooster and Hampton. The vehicles were all unlocked, and contents were strewn about.
The suspects also entered two homes, one via an unlocked window and the other through an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspect found car keys and tried to steal the vehicles from the driveway. One attempt was successful — the other vehicle was left abandoned in neighbor’s yard when it became stuck.
Police emphasize residents need to make sure to lock their cars and check the security of their homes at night, including lock all doors and windows.
Anyone that notices suspicious activity should call Rocky River Police Department at 440-331-1234.
